Overview

The graduate diploma aims to introduce students to current scholarship in the fields of Theology, Scripture and Religious Education. Graduates will be able to: plan, implement and evaluate programs of religious education for schools and parishes in accordance with basic principles of religious education. They will also apply principles of religious education to specific areas such as prayer, liturgy, personal development, values and morals, education and social justice; and develop broader understanding of theological studies and their implications for religious education.

Mode of Offering

This course is offered on-campus. It is also available in distance mode throughthe Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo). Contact the Course Coordinator in each state for further details.

Admission

Application should be made on the Direct Entry Application Form available on the ACU National website, www.acu.edu.au/forms.cfm or from the Student Centre. Direct Entry Application Forms, together with any supporting documentation, should be submitted to the ACU National Admissions Section.

ACUonline

Students may choose to study in a variety of modes, on-campus, printbased, distance online or mixed mode. Applicants must have satisfactorily completed a three-year post-secondary degree or diploma course or equivalent. Applicants may choose to enrol directly in the Graduate Diploma in Religious Education without having first completed the Graduate Certificate in Religious Education.

Course Structure

Unit Offerings

Unit offerings will vary subject to student demand and lecturer availability.

Elective units will vary between campuses and from year to year.

This course is composed of 8 units comprising 4 Graduate Certificate units plus an additional four (4) units which can be either:
1.four (4) from the Religious Education units; OR
2. two (2) from the Religious Education units plus two from the Theology units.
