Overview

The course is designed to provide basic certification requirements for teachers who wish to be involved in Religious Education. It aims to assist teachers in primary or secondary schools to gain fundamental knowledge, skills and competencies needed for Religious Education.
Students who complete the Graduate Certificate can continue into the Graduate Diploma course if they wish to extend their professional qualifications. This course is also intended to provide the necessary specialisation in religious education for entry to the Master of Religious Education course for those students with four years of tertiary study in Education which do not include substantial successful study in Religious Education at the fourth year level.

Mode of Offering

Full-time or part-time. Offered in a variety of modes including on campus, vacation/ weekend schools, distance education in print based and electronic (on-line) formats. In addition to the various modes of face-to-face teaching for the delivery of all the courses, both the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma are available in print-based distance education format. (Only some Theology units are currently fully on-line).

Admission

Application should be made on the Direct Entry Application Form available on the ACU National website, www.acu.edu.au/forms.cfm or from the Student Centre. Direct Entry Application Forms, together with any supporting documentation, should be submitted to the ACU National Admissions Section.

Students may choose to study in a variety of modes: on-campus, print based distance, online, mixed mode.. Applicants must have satisfactorily completed a three-year post-secondary degree or diploma course or equivalent.
