This
course aims to provide both liberal education and skills development focused
on managerial decision–making, business and personal leadership, the ethics
of values–based management and relevant work experience. It is designed
for students who wish to combine the benefits of a liberal education stressing
life–long skills in research, logical thought, ethical decision–making
and clear expression with specific skills focusing on Human Resource Management
or Marketing or, in Brisbane only, International Business.
Note:
In New South Wales the course is offered over two campuses.
Graduate
career options in business-related fields such as, human resources management,
employment relations, policy administration, marketing research and management,
advertising, retailing and wholesaling will be broadened by generic communication
and problem-solving skills developed in the Bachelor of Arts component
of the combined degree course

Structure
Definition
of Terms
A
Major in the Bachelor of Arts course is an approved sequence of units
in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area totalling at least
8 units (80 credit points), normally including at least 1 unit at Introductory
level and at least 6 units at Advanced level.
A
Minor in the Bachelor of Arts course is an approved sequence of units
in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area totalling at least
4 units (40 credit points), normally including at least 1 unit at Introductory
level and at least 2 units at Advanced level.
A
Major in the Bachelor of Business course consists of 8 prescribed units,
which build on a common core of knowledge for all business majors.
Requirements
for Completion of Award
Completion
of 320 credit points (all units having a value of 10 credit points each),
as prescribed below:
one major in either Marketing or Human
Resource Management;
plus one major (8 units) and a minor (4 units) OR one
major (8 units) and four electives from approved Bachelor of Arts units;
plus 12 core Business units and one elective
unit from approved Bachelor of Business units.
In
addition, students must complete 3units of approved Professional Experience
(nil credit point weighting). Compulsory work experience takes the form
of 3units of Professional Experience. Participation will usually take
place during University recesses, and students must submit a report on
their professional experience. Students are required to submit their proposed
professional experience positions for approval.

Sample
Enrolment Pattern
Many
different patterns of enrolment are possible according to campus of enrolment,
student subject choices and attendance mode. The following tables illustrate
possible patterns.
New
South Wales
In
New South Wales, all units in Years 1 and 2 (including some Business units)
will be taught at Strathfield Campus (Mount St Mary) and all subject units
in Years 3 and 4 will be taught at North Sydney Campus (MacKillop). All
Arts units will normally be completed by the end of Year 2.

Honours
Program

completed the combined BA-BBus course, students may apply for admission
