Foundations of Midwifery

This unit provides the opportunity for students to explore the philosophical and theoretical foundations of contemporary midwifery practice. A with woman approach where pregnancy, birth and parenting are considered a normal experience and practice is based on a wellness and social model of health, underpins this unit. National and global context of women’s health and childbearing will be considered.
