Teaching Organisation 120 hours of focussed learning
by a variety of teaching and learning strategies such as lectures, tutorials,
laboratory classes, self-directed learning packages and concept mapping
may be utilised to introduce and explore concepts as they relate to body
function and nursing practice.
In this introductory science unit, a basic understanding of selected areas
of anatomy, physiology, chemistry and physics will be developed to support
the concepts explored within nursing. Students will be introduced to surface
anatomy and the normal structures and functions of the cardiovascular,
respiratory and nervous systems. Emphasis will be placed upon the unifying
concept of homeostasis and its relationship to health. In all areas of
study, basic concepts from the sciences will be explored and applied to
nursing.
