Child
and Adolescent Development: Individual Differences and Special Needs
This unit focuses on current theoretical issues in child and adolescent
development especially individual differences in development. This unit
examines questions about interactions between individual development (physical,
emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual) and the impact of culture
and context on that development. Additionally, it introduces students
to professional attitudes, understandings and skills in relation to individuals
with special needs - intellectual, physical, behavioural, emotional and
communication. Lectures and the tutorials will encourage the development
of critical and reflective approaches to theory and evidence.
