Human Nutrition

Prerequisites BIOL111 Human Systems.
Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for 12 weeks or equivalent of lectures, tutorials, practical sessions.

An examination of the role of nutrition in relation to the human body, including types of food, their physiological importance, the nature of food processing and how it can alter nutritional value, food additives, dietary standards, the role of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of disease, the consequences of poor nutrition, and the relationship between physiological state and nutrition.
