Prerequisites BIOL111 Human Systems.
Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for 12 weeks or equivalent of lectures, tutorials and seminars.

Changing community practices: role of education and information dissemination in modifying unhealthy practices. Disease processes: how diseases are acquired, eg congenital, infectious, sexually transmitted. Human nutrition and the influence of diet and lifestyle on health. Physiological events affecting ageing: factors which affect the health of the elderly, eg exercise, diet, activity and disease. Current issues in health, eg occupational health and safety, STDs, AIDS, drug use and abuse, cancer, and mental health.
