Leadership in Organisations

Prerequisites Nil

Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for 12 weeks or equivalent.

In modern work organisations leadership is a significant challenge that requires leaders to identify their own basic values and assumptions as part of the process of engagement with other organisational members. Leaders need to be challenged to reflect upon leadership and management theories, strategies and practices and be able to analyse them from a number of perspectives to identify their relevance to managing functions and organisations. Within the context of a rapidly changing organisational environment, different ways of helping managers and leaders to manage the dynamics of change will be identified and analysed. Emphasis will be placed on developing ethical and moral frameworks within the context of the Mission of the University for leaders who aim to be credible to their constituents while integrating changes into a clear vision of the future.
