Public Sector Management

Prerequisites Nil

Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for 12 weeks or equivalent.

The focus of this unit is on the theories, principles and characteristics of public sector management with comparisons being made of the traditional model of public administration. The subject will link theoretical and conceptual issues with practical examples drawn from mainly Australian contemporary cases. Issues of change in the structure and processes of the public sector will be considered within the context of the transition from the traditional Westminster model of public administration to the more eclectic contemporary model of public sector management.
