Management of Change

Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for 12 weeks or equivalent.

In contemporary organisations, the phenomenon of change is a reality that faces managers at all levels. Change refers to any alteration of the status quo and involves some modification of the elements of an organisation. Understanding the complexities of the process and nature of such change requires careful and rigorous analysis. For this reason there is general recognition in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors that successful organisational change requires co-ordinated managerial planning, leadership and skill. In the face of this challenge, a new focus for leaders and managers has been emerging. This unit, then, provides leaders and managers with the opportunity to integrate theory and practice with respect to change in the light of contemporary research and reflection upon their own experience.
