This unit will expose students to the principal concepts and processes of Strategic Management. The inevitable changes in the world environment are creating new opportunities and challenges for the entire business and non-business community. This unit explores the context of strategy in a globalised world, the strategic environment, strategy formulation and issues relating to the implementation of strategy. Participants will have the opportunity to gain the competencies, skills and understanding necessary for formulating, implementing and managing the strategy process that aims to ensure the long term viability and success of an organisation or enterprise. A critical overview is also provided of the various frameworks and models used in strategic analysis. Emphasis will be placed on the inevitability of change in the global environment and the need for strategic thinking and management in the changing environment.
