Prerequisites Entry into the Honours course.

Teaching Organisation Introductory lecture, followed by individual meeting with lecturer to negotiate project. The unit will normally be offered for five weeks in the winter session. Individual research will normally be conducted in the first four weeks with the final week being reserved for report preparation. Student commitment is considered to be the equivalent of 48 semester hours (that is, 12 weeks x 4 hours per week).

Provides the opportunity for students to conduct individual research into an information system in terms of the technology, the people involved, and the procedures used to process the information. Through observation, investigation and/or experience, students will be required to describe the implementation of an information system in a specific industry or organisation, giving consideration to the effects of using the system and the ways in which individuals, organisations or society can influence the nature and extent of these effects. The unit will also give students an opportunity to begin to develop an industry perspective on their academic studies in Information Systems and will require their formal reflection on the industry placement components of the completed Pass degree.
