Duration 3 years full-time or equivalent part-time (Pass) 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time (Honours) Available at North Sydney Campus NSW (MacKillop) The course educates students to contribute to the monitoring and management of processes and activities that affect the environment. The course provides students with understanding and practical competence in the scientific, social, ethical and legal dimensions of the practice of environmental science. The course develops the skills needed for the use of information technology and for successful communication and cooperation with employers, colleagues and the community. Graduates are able to apply the relevant and current knowledge and skills they have gained to the practice of their profession with the highest ethical standards. Graduates are effective researchers and decision-makers with skills in critical thinking, problem solving and analysis. The course is offered on-campus, normally full-time. Apply to UAC. Requirements for Completion of Pass Award Students are required to complete a total of 24 units (240 credit points): · 12 units of Environmental Science; · 11 core Science units in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology and Physics; · 1 elective unit. Two weeks of the course additional to the lecture weeks are allocated to compulsory excursions. Students are required also to complete 15 days of Volunteer Experience by the end of Year 2 and 15 days of Field Experience completed by the end of Year 3. Unit offerings will vary subject to student demand and lecturer availability. Elective units will vary between campuses and from year to year. * Elective Graduates and students enrolled in the Bachelor of Environmental Science will be eligible for the appropriate category of membership of the Environment Institute of Australia. Graduates who undertake a Graduate Diploma in Education are accredited to teach Secondary Science in NSW schools. The Honours program prepares students for postgraduate study and eventual research-oriented careers in environmental science industries. The program combines instruction in research methods and the presentation of a research thesis in a specialist environmental science field, with course work at an advanced level, and the opportunity for further field experience in the industry.
